Position Type: RegularYour OpportunityDefined Benefit Services provides actuarial, administration, and participant services to clients whose objective is to provide an integrated retirement plan experience to their employees and a single-provider servicing solution for all of their retirement programs. The Personal Defined Benefit Team focuses on defined benefit plans for small business employers with generally less than 5 employees, including the owners. Schwab Retirement Plan Services, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation. Schwab Retirement Plan Services, In--c. provides recordkeeping, administration, participant education and communication, plan design, consulting, actuarial services, and compliance testing for a total of over 900 defined contribution, defined benefit, and non-qualified retirement plans and provides specialized actuarial/administration services for over 500 Personal Defined Benefit plans.What you are good atPersonal Defined Benefit (DB) Plans - We are looking for a Consultant to be primarily responsible for preparing, reviewing and delivering DB services to self-employed individuals and small businesses; handling requests and questions on the customer service phone line; and responding to questions from clients and prospects related to the DB plan. Specifically, the person will:

  • Consult with prospective/ongoing clients and advisors
  • Prepare and peer review annual actuarial reporting, contribution estimates and final results
  • Prepare and peer review government forms filings for both ongoing and terminating plans (e.g. Form 5500, Schedule SB, Annual Funding Notice, PBGC Premium, IRS Form 5310, PBGC Form 500)
  • Peer review individual participant benefit calculations and distribution paperwork
  • Prepare and review plan documents, plan amendments, and employer resolutionsWhat you have
    • Desire to make a significant contribution to the growth of Schwab's Personal Defined Benefit Plan product
    • Standout colleague mentality, willing and able to give at all levels of service delivery
    • Good oral and written communications skills; experience explaining retirement plan information or other sophisticated concepts to customers and prospects
    • Ability to rapidly learn broad range of skills, processes and DB subject matter
    • Ability to think differently and to continuously improve the delivery of services
    • Good organizational skills, shows attention to detail
    • Technical skills, especially in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
    • Current ASPPA designation, or other industry designation that demonstrates relevant retirement plan continuing education
    • 3 years of work experience in retirement plan and/or defined benefit services
