What We're Looking For

We are looking to grow our team with a hands-on project manager. This person will lead cross-functional project teams to plan and execute the development of new product programs.

We are looking for a resourceful, self-directed individual with a passion for new products - someone who enjoys collaboration, is a great communicator, and who is driven to achieve results through others. This position will be based in our Elyria, Ohio office.

We are looking for a team player with a sense of urgency - someone passionate about solutions that meet or exceed our customers' expectations. You'll work closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Industrial Designers, and Software Developers, as well as individuals from the Sourcing, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new product development projects, assuming overall responsibility for project execution from kickoff to launch
  • Own the plan - estimate workload and establish resource requirements upfront and throughout each project; drive changes as required to keep the project on track
  • Plan to win - proactively identify issues and project risks; remove obstacles to ensure a successful product launch
  • Establish rigorous timing and cost targets for each project and subsystem; track progress against these targets and develop the necessary countermeasures to meet them
  • Facilitate weekly project reviews and monthly leadership reporting including project documentation, business plans, and appropriation requests
  • Drive an operating cadence for each project using agile techniques and/or traditional project meetings; develop the operating rhythm as required based on team and product dynamics
  • Create and maintain written reports; measure performance to established targets
  • Ensure stakeholder needs are understood and incorporated in each new product development (NPD) phase
  • Interact regularly with the design, testing, and manufacturing teams, as well as outside suppliers
  • Benchmark NPD activities to evaluate the effectiveness of new product launches
  • Proactively drive adoption and continuous improvement of the Professional Tools NPD Process
  • Engage functional colleagues and shared resources across multiple Emerson sites including Rockford, Illinois; Ash Flat, Arkansas; and Pune, India
  • This role does not have formal direct reports; however, the project manager oversees day-to-day activities of the project team

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Two or more years of experience in manufacturing, sourcing, or new product development are required; five years preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills - must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders and senior management
  • Prior experience in technical project management against established deadlines
  • Working knowledge of the technologies used in Greenlee, HDE, and RIDGID products
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Preference will be given to candidates with formal project management training and/or prior experience in design thinking methodologies
  • This role requires advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools including MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required for this position, preferably in a technical discipline
