Description: SALARY POSITION $50,000-$60,000About Us:SPIRE Institute & Academy (IA) is a comprehensive academic, athletic, personal skills and career development experience located within a world class event and wellness complex. Constructed on nearly 500 acres with more than 750,000 sq. ft. under roof, SPIRE (www.spireinstitute.org) encompasses four divisions: SPIRE Academy, an accredited college preparatory international boarding school and multi-sport/specialty training and development academy for 9-12 graders and a post grad program; SPIRE Institute, the research and development arm studying performance improvement across multiple disciplines; SPIRE Events, a facility and team that hosts local, national and international tournaments and events with the NCAA, the Big East, Big Ten and Atlantic 10 conferences, Olympic trials and world championship qualifiers; and SPIRE Fit, a community membership-based fitness, swim and health center open to the public. Sports currently featured on campus include swimming, track and field, basketball, esports, drone racing, wrestling and lacrosse.OverviewThe Executive Chef reports directly to the Food & Beverage Director, managing the entire operation in their absence and overseeing a wide range of tasks including supervising the kitchen staff and coordinating the timing of each meal. This type of chef plays a pivotal role in upholding the standards and quality of the food. Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred.Duties & Responsibilities: - Supervise the kitchen, preparation, and presentation of foods by chefs, cooks and other team members, overseeing that all the food items are prepared as determined by our culinary standards, guidelines, and procedures - Hire, orientate and train team members to ensure that the highest standards of quality are met - Create and manage production team member schedules - Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment in accordance with company vendor policies - Maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines while assuring that necessary product is available when needed - Establish controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft - Project annual food and labor costs and monitor actual financial results - Plan and supervise special events - Handle any food preparation issues (i.e. food shortages, excesses, outdated products, poor quality) by taking action to correct problems - Executive Chef experience managing a busy kitchen - Culinary certification preferred - Experience ordering and monitoring supplies - Creativity and passion to help our team produce innovative dishes - Excellent verbal & written communication skills - A passion towards safety and sanitation - Ability to create a talented staff to provide consistency in all food and service functions - Professional appearance - Ability to provide a high level of customer service
