Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: The
position involves floating to various medical-surgical units as
needed. Ensure staff safety in a secure correctional environment.
Certifications required include Basic Life Support. This unit
serves inmates within a locked facility with access controlled by
corrections officers. The corrections officer to inmate ratio is
1:2. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for the progressive care
unit, and 1:4-5 for medical-surgical units. Some shifts will be
assigned to medical-surgical units, while others will be assigned
to the progressive care unit. Staff safety is a priority in this
setting. Patient diagnoses include active oncology diagnoses and
treatments, such as solid tumors and hematology. The unit admits
patients for oncology workups and those with a history of cancer
for various reasons. Non-oncology diagnoses may also be admitted
for reasons including surgical procedures and abnormal labs. Skills
and competencies required include medical-surgical and telemetry
knowledge. Dysrhythmias need to be interpreted and managed
accordingly. Familiarity with IV insulin protocols is essential.
Feeding tube care and management is also required. Knowledge of
hemodialysis management is necessary. Administering blood products
and managing central and peripheral lines is expected. Experience
with respiratory management techniques, including CPAP and BIPAP,
is necessary. Applicant must be able to manage oxygen delivery and
non-invasive airway interventions. The ability to work with various
interdisciplinary teams and provide comprehensive patient care is
essential. Candidates should have experience meeting the
requirements within the past three years. Flexible scheduling is
expected to accommodate the needs of the unit. All candidates must
complete any necessary credentialing processes upon acceptance of
