2020Position Summary:This position combines management of ongoing
Engine Air & Transmission actuation/control business activities and
planning for continued success into the future. This role requires
a self-directed candidate with demonstrated leadership
abilities,--strong business acumen, as well as strong technical
background. Candidate must have led teams, projects, & programs
with strong interpersonal, coaching & team building skills.
Candidate will also demonstrate experience in build up of sales
coordination & development of positive customer
relationships.Commercial responsibilities include market
development & creation of customer value propositions, pricing,
profitability and contract development. Role is accountable for
budgeting, forecasting, and developing strategic plans for the
product lines. Experience in the industrial sectors such as
Automotive/Truck, Agricultural, Heavy Equipment is required.
Essential Functions:* The Drivetrain Product Manager is responsible
for developing, obtaining executive approval and implementing the
product strategy (STRAP), mid-term operating plan (MOP) and the
annual operating plan (AOP) to achieve the product line growth and
profitability targets.* Drive the approach and execution of market,
competitive and customer analysis to be translated into strategic
plan (STRAP) actions.* Achieve product group Profit & Loss
(P&L) targets by partnering with finance colleagues, developing
and executing LTA's, pricing, global planning & budgeting.*
Execution of product development programs to defined targets (cost,
timing & product quality) according to the defined project
management (PM) tools and Product Development & Commercialization
(PDC) processes.* Candidate will set direction, motivate,
influence, & monitor progress of cross functional teams, including
members of Purchasing, Operations, Finance, & Quality.* This
individual must be a strong & highly effective--manager,--leader,
coach & mentor who has led project/programs & highly technical
Engineering Teams through product launches.* Partner with Global
Purchasing Excellence (GPE) to drive supplier strategies, product
sourcing decisions and capital expenditures.* Achieve key product
group operational metrics by partnering with Supply Chain
Excellence (SCE), Quality & Product Safety (QPS) colleagues and
plants to drive improvements in inventory, delivery performance,
customer quality and warranty.* Develop a strong working
relationship with counterparts at Knorr-Bremse, including
development and implementation of worldwide product and
manufacturing strategies. (Particular focus on establishing a North
American manufacturing base)* Lead, develop, & coach
cross-functional teams; Position requires a strong interface with
external customers, business leadership, business development &
sales teams.* Partner with key central functions to drive the
execution of key business process improvement and localization
initiatives.Knowledge:* Knowledge in developing business cases,
financial P&L elements, & strategic planning.* In-depth
understanding of the trucking industry and Heavy Diesel Engine
Industry - its customers, manufacturers, associations, regulatory
issues, and volume outlook.* In-depth knowledge of powertrain
systems a plus.* Technical knowledge of respective system
components and impact on overall powertrain / vehicle performance.
Ideal candidate will be familiar with product development and
manufacturing processes used to produce cast, machined and
electronic components and assemblies.* Working knowledge of the
principles of product development processes within a
QS-9000/TS16949--environmentExperience:* A minimum of 10 years'
experience in engineering, program management, manufacturing,
technical product development, or technical sales.* In depth
understanding of lean manufacturing, design for six sigma & theory
of constraints.* Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and/or
automotive market is a plus.* Strong operational and product design
experience including design for manufacturability, plant
operations, product development processes.* Experience in product
marketing and creating growth initiatives.* Experience managing
cross-functional organization in a matrix environment.* Experience
in developing and managing budgets is required.* Experience in
customer contracts negotiations and previous customer facing
roles/experience with external customers (OE/AM/Fleet)
preferred.Skills:* Ability to assimilate data quickly* Capable of
prioritizing time/resources/goals, possessing strong interpersonal,
oral, & written communication skills & a positive/proactive work
ethic to ensure success in a cross-functional, team environment.*
Individual will have demonstrated negotiation skills & excellent
strategic thinking skills.* Strong business management skills
required to drive continuous profitable growth.* Drives new
projects & programs in anticipation of business needs. Leads teams
in planning and decision making. * Strong customer orientation to
build / enhance business relationships and growth. Able to identify
customer needs and act as the 'voice of the customer'.* Capable of
performing in a highly stressful environment.* Influences and
motivates others, provides direction, removes barriers, leads high
impact teams with sense of urgency.* Able to adapt to diversity of
local & global working teams.--(US, Germany, UK, Japan,
China)Education:* S. degree in Engineering preferred. Masters or
MBA a plus* Greenbelt certified preferred.Position Requirements:
