Participate in the preparation of contract plans, engineer’s estimates, construction specifications, and provide field support services as needed. Develop reports, studies, specifications, plans, and designs for projects of varying scope and scale, involving exploration of subject areas, defining project scope, and creating innovative concepts and solutions. Work independently with consultation but minimal supervision. Provide cost estimates, resource planning (personnel and materials), establish project timelines, and assist in proposal preparation. May also contribute to client presentations. Review project designs and plans prepared by junior engineers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards, delegating tasks as appropriate. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality control and assurance standards. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, acting independently on technical matters as required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Structural Engineering preferred. Proven design experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and straight/curved steel beams is required; experience with wood and masonry is a plus. Prior experience in the Civil Engineering industry, with proficiency in CAD and design software such as OpenRoads, OpenBridge Designer, AutoCAD/Civil3D, Merlin Dash, MIDAS, AASHTO BrR, Leap Bridge, PyWall, and L-Pile. Structural design experience for public transportation projects (e.g., ODOT, municipal, and county) is required, including expertise in steel and reinforced concrete design in compliance with ODOT and AASHTO specifications. Familiarity with railroad structures and AREMA specifications is a plus. Bridge inspection experience is a bonus. Demonstrated ability to act as a technical lead on projects of varying complexity, with strong communication and multitasking skills in a collaborative team environment.
